IRT. (Instant Release Technique) To release negative emotions, I frequently make use of IRT. Actually, there are several techniques available for instant release. I generally use one that I condensed myself. It goes like this: 1. Put your mind on the situation where stress causes anger, fear or another negative emotion.
2. Value the gravity of the situation on a scale from 1 to 10
3. Ask yourself: “Am I capable and willing to release this emotion? Answering yes or no makes no difference.
4. Then ask yourself: “Do I want to be free? The answer can hardly be anything else but YES.
5. When?
6. Now!
7. Snap your fingers on both hand a few times. Say or think: With every snap of my fingers I release these negative emotions.
8. Breathe in and out deeply and then blow it out – release it.
Then you can do the whole thing again once more. Most likely, your emotion carries less weight this time. Then you ask yourself the questions again, snap fingers, breathe and release. This shortened version of IRT. Works good for small irritations and emotional problems.
