My readers complain: I tried everything to get rid of my stress. I try to relax, I try to meditate. I try to get a peaceful life. But nothing works. Even when I listen to relaxation CDs, or MP3, it doesn't work. My life is so busy and stressful. I've got so much to do. And I know that I should relax, just because of my health. But I really don't know how to solve my stress.

But when I sit down, my thoughts never stop. They are tumbling around. I try to make my mind still and empty, but I never success tot get the stress out of my mind and out of my life. I really try. I even tried yoga, but nothing can drive my stress away.

1. Realize the problem: You will have to learn how to solve stress

If this is your problem too, then first you should realize that this is a real problem. Stress is one of the first causes for illness. You really should change something in your life. Because if you don't realize this, at one point or another you will be burn out, not able to do anything any more. Or you will start to get smaller and bigger physical diseases. If already you suffer from a cold now end then, or you are too tired or you get small accidents, then take care even more! So realize stress is a severe problem in your life. And you'd better take the decision to deal with this challenge and make yourself relaxed and happy again.


2. Don't try to solve stress.To try is not enough.

Make a plan and stick to it. Don't be wishy-washy. Write down which way you are going to relax, how much time you are going to relax. Also write down how much time do you need before you will succeed. For example: every evening from 8 till 9, I will listen to a relaxation CD. I will do this for three weeks. At that fixed date I want to be able to relax my mind, so my life will be less stressful. By the way, it doesn't have to be a CD. You could do yoga or make a nice long walk, or anything, but do it daily!

 

 
   

 

3. Take your own time to solve stress

You did this for three weeks. I am sure 80 -90 % of people who stick to this plan will feel more relaxation in their life. If this is still not the case, then you should be even more rigorous. Remember: the reason why you should relax: if you don't relax by now, life will force you to take rest by illness or accident and I assume you don't want that.

So be rigorous. Every week take a day for yourself. I know that you think this is not possible: but you should! If you don't do this, soon you will be off for 7 days a week. Just make it possible. And give yourself a holiday day every week. Do the things you like, but maybe have forgotten. Maybe you used to love painting or reading. Or go outside, or enjoy your free day in the sauna. You will need this day. The first hours your mind will not be quiet yet, But after 4-5 hours you will relax. And this is good for you.

Keep on doing this for months. And I'll tell you something. After a few weeks you will notice that in stead of less time because of your day off, you will experience having more time to do your tasks and you will feel no stress anymore.
